Images of Apple 'Vision Air' Power Cable Emerge Online

More images of a redesigned power cable allegedly for a future Apple "Vision Air" headset were today shared online by the prototype collector and leaker known as "Kosutami."

Yesterday, the leaker explained that the Apple "Vision Air" will feature a thinner design and switch the battery enclosure and several of its internal structures to titanium to reduce the device's overall weight. Most of the exterior of the device will continue to be aluminum, except with a "Midnight" bluish-black finish. Today's Vision Pro is only available in silver.

The latest images of the power cable show an anodized aluminum connector finished in Apple's distinctive Midnight color. Initial pictures of the Lightning-style connector in Midnight purportedly for the next-generation Vision device were first shared yesterday:



The Vision Pro uses a similar connector, except with 12 pins instead of eight, suggesting that the new cable is part of a more significant redesign, at least of the external battery. The audio strap connector appears to be the same design as that of the Vision Pro.



Apple is expected to launch a second-generation Vision Pro headset with the M5 chip between fall 2025 and spring 2026, but the company's work on a lower-cost headset is widely reported. The latter could be the "Vision Air" device Kosutami has referred to.

Kosutami has a mixed track record for Apple rumors, but they were the first to say that Apple would replace its leather Modern Buckle band with a FineWoven version in 2023. They also went on to provide the first real-world images of the FineWoven Apple Watch bands prior to their official unveiling, the new Thunderbolt 4 cable released alongside the iPhone 15 Pro, the iPhone 16 Pro's improved thermal design and redesigned battery, and more.

Absolutely not. The vision pro is one of the most profound computing experiences I have ever had the joy of using. The first iPhone sucked and so did the first watch and the first iPad. Through proper iteration and improvements they became best in class. Apple made a limited amount of these and effectively sold off what was built. The virtual displays and other updates to the platform are making it more and more useful by the day and for entertainment there is no better device to consume it.

As someone who has used multiple android smart watches and fitness trackers, you are tripping big time.

What sense does a second model make when the Pro could still be improved. Are we not looking at the new Pro here?

With iPad the second gen was a leap in size and weight. Almost like gen 1 was an older prototype. That would be nice for Vision, but doesn’t change the fundamentals. An Air model doesn’t either. I’m not sure it would be that much cheaper either.

They better be planning to hit a dramatically lower price point AND support the heck out of developers, as well as have a gaming story and 1st party content narrative and support very fleshed out.

The AVP hasn't stagnated due to the hardware not being good enough.

Having owned the first iphone, it definitely did not suck. It was revolutionary at the time and absolutely no other device of it's kind could come close in terms of the user experience it provided.

You'd have a better argument saying it sucks now with how it's lagging behind competitors in terms of AI features, Assistant and ability to customize.

What point is there in a Vision product line at all with no path to a mass market product? It'd just be another high end headset that only the wealthy and expert professionals can afford. Apple is banking on VR/AR being the next iPhone, all the major players are.

Why midnight? I really loved the space gray color(s?) across Apple’s different products but the midnight color gives off too much of a blue vibe to me. (Same on the opposite side with starlight.) Nothing against them existing if that’s someone’s preference, but I wish I could always get it in the boring, monotonous colors I love. hahah

(Yes, I’m also bitter that the space gray is gone from the M4 Airs). 😝

There is a secret one, look at the battery back there is a small hole, when you press it, it will pop out the secret big lighting cable.

The only point I can think is getting the software and apps ready for a future breakthrough.
